Privacy policy
Last updated 24 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information VillaSafe collects, why, and what you can do about it. We’ve written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at sales@villasafe.com.
Who we are
VillaSafe is an estate security and access control company based in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria. This policy covers the villasafe.com website and the VillaSafe apps for residents, guards and managers.
When you use this website
If you request a demo or send us a message, we collect what you type into the form: your name, phone number, the estate or organisation, your role, city, the size of your estate, an optional email address and your message. We use it to reply to you and to arrange your demo. It goes into our support inbox and our team is notified by email.
If you message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy also apply to that conversation.
We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies on this website. Your browser stores one small setting, your choice of light or dark mode, so the site remembers it next time.
When your estate uses VillaSafe
Estates, companies and other organisations use VillaSafe to run their gates. They decide whose details go into the system, such as residents, household members, staff, guards and guests, and why. VillaSafe processes those details on their behalf to provide the service. Our trust and security page lists what is collected and why.
How we use personal information
- To provide the service: passes, check-ins, records, alerts and notices.
- To keep the service and the gate secure, including preventing misuse.
- To support estates and answer questions.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We don’t use personal information for advertising.
Our legal bases
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, we rely on the contract with your estate or organisation, the legitimate interest in keeping the gate secure, your consent where it’s needed, and our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed to run the service: with the estate’s own administrators, with service providers that host the platform and deliver emails, push notifications and WhatsApp messages, and with authorities where the law requires it. Some providers may process information outside Nigeria; where they do, we rely on the safeguards the NDPA requires.
How long we keep it
We keep estate records for as long as the estate uses VillaSafe, or as long as the estate asks us to, unless the law requires otherwise. Website enquiries are kept as long as we need them to respond and follow up.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how it’s used, to receive a copy, and to withdraw consent you’ve given. If your details are in VillaSafe because of your estate, your estate is usually the first place to ask; we’ll help either way. If you’re unhappy with how your information is handled, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Children
This website isn’t aimed at children. Where an estate adds children to a household profile, it’s the parent or guardian who does so.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
