Estate security · Kenya

Smarter gates for Kenya’s gated communities.

In Nairobi and its suburbs, from Karen, Runda and Lavington to Kileleshwa, Kilimani and the communities along Kiambu Road and Mombasa Road, the gate is where security starts. VillaSafe replaces the visitor book with QR passes residents send on WhatsApp, a guard app that works offline, and a live record for management.

01The gate in Kenya

The ID book at the gate has had its day.

At many gates, visitors still write their name, ID number and phone number in a book that anyone at the gatehouse can read. It slows the queue and leaves personal details lying open on a desk.

Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019 asks for something better: collect only what you need, for a clear purpose, and keep it safe. When a resident has already invited the guest, the gate can check a pass instead of copying an ID into a book.

Getting set up: VillaSafe runs anywhere guards have a smartphone. We set up communities outside Nigeria remotely, so tell us about yours and we’ll confirm what’s possible, including gate hardware.

02What VillaSafe changes

Built for what happens at your gate

  • 01

    No more open ID books

Invited guests show a pass, so the gate doesn’t need to copy their ID into a book anyone can read.

  • 02

    Domestic staff and regulars

Repeat passes for house help, drivers and gardeners on the days they work.

  • 03

    Several gates, one record

Main gate and side gate check the same passes and write to the same log.

03How a visit works

Invite. Share. Scan. Open.

  1. 1

    Invite

The resident creates a guest pass in the app: who is coming, which day and what time.

  2. 2

    Share

The pass goes to the guest on WhatsApp as a QR code and a PIN. Guests don’t need the app.

  3. 3

    Scan

The guard scans the code at the gate. VillaSafe checks it at once, even with no network.

  4. 4

    Open

With a connected barrier, the gate lifts by itself. Every visit is logged in and out.

VillaSafe in Kenya

Local questions, straight answers

Is VillaSafe available in Kenya?

VillaSafe works anywhere guards have a smartphone and a data connection some of the time. We set up communities outside Nigeria remotely; talk to us and we’ll confirm what’s possible for yours.

Do visitors still have to write their ID number in a book?

Not when a resident has invited them. They arrive with a pass, the guard checks it, and the visit is logged. Your management decides what details, if any, to record for other visitors.

What if the network drops at the gate?

The guard app keeps checking passes offline and syncs every entry when the connection returns.
